Workshops

Fabric Jewelry--Who Knew?
3-4 hrs

Create a necklace, a bracelet or a corsage--or one of each! Learn the basic skills for making Ficklesticks--the fabric and wire sticks that can be bent, wrapped, woven and worn! I think this is the perfect new craft for the.fabric fiends among us. Adaptable and even "fickle", Ficklesticks can be used over and over in creating fantastic art jewelry and adornments! Equally wearable with jeans or symphony gowns, Ficklesticks have also been spotted at Burning Man!

The students will easily master the process for making Ficklesticks, and will have plenty of time for experimenting with color and pattern, and for choosing and incorporating their own and shared fabrics into their work. Each student should be able to leave with one or two smaller pieces of jewelry and a good start on a larger project, too. They will also be able to follow their own drummer, if they want, just "ficklesticking around" making a mobile, weaving a wall hanging, creating a bouquet, making a basket or pretty much whatever they can come up with!

In this 4 hour class you will be able to make several smaller pieces, and leave with tons of inspiration.
